A portrait of Ms. Montoya
Hello!  My name is Jenny Montoya. I have been a proud part of the Gerber team since 1997 when I began my career at Gerber as a classroom teacher. My hat has changed throughout the years, but I can honestly say that I have enjoyed all of my years at Gerber and I look forward to making this year the best yet.

I would like to welcome you to the Gerber Elementary School website. Please take the time to check out the site to learn all about our wonderful school. The board and I are dedicated to making Gerber school a safe, well-maintained, and motivational place for students to learn and grow.

We believe that every child can learn. That’s the bottom line! Student learning and achievement will be at the center of every decision that we make.

We believe in setting high expectations for staff and students. We believe in challenging students to dream big and start thinking about their future as early as possible. When you walk on campus you should feel a strong commitment to our “No Excuses” and college-going culture. I was the first in my family to graduate from college and I understand firsthand that education has the potential of opening many doors.

We are committed to creating systems that challenge and support students and staff.  We are in the process of implementing a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) schoolwide.  MTSS is an integrated, comprehensive framework that focuses on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), core instruction, differentiating learning, and the alignment of school systems necessary for the success of all students.  PBIS is an evidence-based approach used to support students' social, emotional, and behavior needs while increasing student engagement and overall school culture.

We believe in our teachers and staff. The Gerber Team is professional and dedicated to providing students with a high-quality education that supports students' academic, social, and emotional needs so that all students can achieve to their fullest potential.

We believe in teaching to the whole child and not just the mind of a child. Along with common core state standards based academics, we are passionate about guiding our students to be kind, respectful, and responsible citizens. We all have a strong commitment to “Gerber Ram Pride”.

I look forward to an exciting year of learning and I hope to see you on campus often.

Respectfully,

Jenny Montoya
