Hello! My name is Jenny Montoya. I have been a proud part of the Gerber team since 1997 when I began my career at Gerber as a classroom teacher. I was a classroom teacher for a total of five years (one year in Williams), a reading specialist for eight years, an assistant principal for four years and this will be my third year as the superintendent/principal. I’ve enjoyed all of my years at Gerber and I look forward to another great one in 2017-2018!!
I would like to welcome you to the Gerber Elementary School website. Please take the time to check out the site to learn all about our wonderful school. The board and I are dedicated to making Gerber school a safe, well-maintained, and motivational place for students to learn and grow.
We believe that every child can learn. That’s the bottom line! Student learning and achievement will be at the center of every decision that we make.
We believe in setting high expectations for staff and students. We believe in challenging students to dream big and start thinking about their future as early as possible. When you walk on campus you should feel a strong commitment to our “No Excuses” and college-going culture. I was the first in my family to graduate from college and I understand firsthand that education has the potential of opening many doors.
We believe in connecting school to the community. This year we will continue to implement Rachel’s Challenge on our campus. The program aims to reduce bullying and hate by connecting people together by showing compassion and spreading random acts of kindness.
We believe in our teachers and staff. They are professional and dedicated to providing students with a high-quality education so that all students can achieve to their fullest potential.
We believe in teaching to the whole child and not just the mind of a child. Along with common core standards based academics, we are passionate about guiding our students to be caring, respectful, and responsible good citizens. We all have a strong commitment to “Gerber Ram Pride”.
I look forward to an exciting year of learning and I hope to see you on campus often.
